I set out to create something with my original characters and I thought that a comic book cover would be an interesting and unique idea. I started with a single sketch of the large orc on paper and scanned it in, then made it a vector in illustrator. I did the same with a sketch of the elf.

  1. I would try to make the font on the side a little larger to see how it looks. Also, I'm not sure that all the eyes around the poster are necessary. I really like the design of the drawings and the font you used for the DEEPER part.

  2. Really nice comic book cover man. I like how the drawings were done by yourself, and the colors are really nice. My only complaint is the box on the side seems a bit uneeded.

  3. This is a really good cover! I would make the text on the side bolder so that it's easier to see. I would also make the sidebar that the text is in have a faded look at the corners to maybe have it look like writing a scroll. Other than that good job!

  5. this is very interesting. i like where you went with the comic book cover design. nice character designs as well! it could've been more authentic if you written your name on it, you know like, "Created by: (name)".

    nice job!

  6. The idea for this is great! I would change the side with the words. Maybe move it the bottom... it seems out of place there.

  7. $10?! Dude, how good is this comic book? But I like the originality and the Iron Maiden like text.

  8. Your style is really cute. :) I'm not sure if the eyes are completely needed, maybe just lessen the amount of them, also the text on the side in the box should be a big bigger and maybe moved a bit farther down on the poster. I really like the look of your characters and how they are surrounded by darkness and hidden enemies.

  9. I really like your drawings and the idea for the poster. The text and color is good and I like how it seems like the two in the middle look like they are surrounded by hidden enemies. The eyes balls are creepy so it works perfect for it. The only thing I might change would be the on side where the $10 and featuring part is maybe change the background color of those a bit so it doesn't look out of place. Maybe even try a different text for the title and more the bottom eyes around a bit more.

  10. I like the simplicity of this design. It feels a little effortless, but there is complexity there too. I find it interesting that much of the design is contained in the center oval. This is a strong focal point because of the beautiful marker-like texture. It feels visually heavy in some ways, but light at the same time because there is an element of transparent layers in the color. The green really descends back into space, making it feel like a deep tunnel, while the stark black with the eyes scattered around feel much closer. Creating this space difference is really important in visual design. The whole thing has a light, playful, fun tone to it. I think the font works, although I feel that it also takes it to more of an “aliens” subject. I like the way you have included headlines of what to expect along the side. I think it works that this banner interrupts the main figures, but I think the rectangle should be moved over slightly towards the left so it’s not so close to the edge. You could also play with the locations of the eyes more, or play with different colored irises. Overall, there is a really consistent thought running through this and I love that you used your original drawings and subject matter to explore this project.

  11. Vary much freshing. I love both two characters. The background color, pitch black, is my most favorite. I would buy it.

  12. The characters don't seem familiar to me but I feel the mood for this poster. I can see the effort but it'd help if i knew who the characters were. Regardless, nice job!

  13. This looks very cool, I like your animation and style for a cover of a comic book. It kinda reminds me of "Bone" with an adventurous style. Only criticism is that maybe the middle needs to be a bit brighter. Other than that, I like this.
